I don't understand why all of a sudden my body is craving crap. Just sugary treats made from the devil type of crap. For example... There's this certain type of poptart that has been discontinued that I used to just LOVE. It's the Hot Fudge Sundae, and what you do, is FREEZE it! Amazing... So I found some up in the vending machine at work, and there's two packs and I bought one, but I had to seriously talk myself out of buying both. I haven't had them in over 5 years! I think I'll survive another 2 days (that I'm at this job...).
I ate half a box of cookies yesterday. I've stopped working out. I drink soda all the time now and I just can't seem to get myself out of a rut...

Sac State 5K Fun Run
Yesterday I ran the Sac State 5K Fun run with my roommate Andrea. It was fun! It was HARD!! I'm SO out of shape! But I had a blast and I plan on keep running.

Here we are before the race (look at how dark I am!)

Pictures of the Hornet!
START
Crawling to the end! I finished at 35:30 minutes. Like 709 out of 900-something. :) TERRIBLE! But I did it!
Here we are at the end - sweaty and gross!

Hellloooo?!
Does anyone even take a venture over to this bloggy-blog? I'm just curious, I'm going to continue posting regardless, but I just wasn't sure. So leave me a cute little "I'm still here!!" message if you feel so inclined.
So! Two inspirational things:
1. My letter. If you haven't already read it, check it out! It was a nice response to my frantic "I hate nutrition!!" paper that I wrote for my Healthy Sciences class. I had already decided to pick back up the pace on my eating better and working out. Making this a habit is not going as easily as I had planned.
2. So next, is this little gem from Mama Laughlin. I follow her, not so religiously, but she shows up daily in my blogger feed and occasionally I check it out. I was scrolling down this morning and found her MILF Monday post about running 10 miles, and can I say INSPIRATION! Her pictures from losing baby weight are amazing and her conversation with her self is hilarious! I haven't popped out any babies from my va jay jay and I still can't run a mile or be motivated enough to take off any more weight. I've stayed constant, which is good, I guess. But I want to be running better and I want to be in a bikini. So I'm going to go and do.
I'm in my cute work out gear and after I fail my macro exam, I'm going to hit the pavement.

Juuuust kidding...
I weighed myself today and I didn't really put on 8 lbs. Just 3. Easy to take back off.
Today's a skinny feeling day and it's super nice outside, so I'm going to go for a run here in a minute. I LOVE that it's almost six and still nice and bright outside!

Not happy.
I have put on 7 fucking pounds. Most likely over spring break - all my drinking, plus working in a med office with lots of free food, plus not working out, plus lack of motivation. So I have no one to blame but myself.
I'm going to either go to the gym or for a run this afternoon, I'm swearing off drinking until finals, I'm too broke for fast food. Its time to detox.

Dashing Divas!
I signed up for the Dashing Divas, which is "a specially designed program for the "dashing divas" at Sacramento State". I'm pretty stoked! I get entry into two 5ks, training, tips, shirts, discounts, etc. etc. etc.
I'm hella stoked. Time to get goin! And stop eating Carl's Jr.

Better Brownies?
These were gross, but I realized I didn't half the flour the way I did everything else. So you try them and tell me if yours turned out better.
Recipe from AllRecipes.com (click the link)
My substitutions. :)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unprocessed cane sugar
- 3 squares of bittersweet baking chocolate
- 5 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, cocoa powder and yogurt. Stir in the eggs one at a time until well blended, then add vanilla and salt. Stir in the flour until just absorbed. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 28 to 32 minutes in the preheated oven, until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan, and a toothpick inserted comes out fairly clean (sticky crumbs are okay). Cool brownies in the pan over a wire rack before cutting into squares. Cover tightly with plastic wrap to store.
New Workout Plan!
So I've decided to amp things up. Lately, I've been working out two times a day, for half an hour each session.
Here is what I think I'm going to do.
At first, I started on Tuesday doing simply this abs routine. It's INSANE! I cannot do the hanging straight-leg pull (the first move). Instead, I do whatever that t-bar thing is where you rest your arms on the pads and lift your legs. I alternate between pulling my knees up and lifting my legs straight up. It's rough, but I'm working my way up to it.
Alyssa & I did this again the next day and did some lunges. But in all honesty, my legs are pretty great. They buff up and get sexy real fast, so I don't do much with them.
So today, I decided it was time to do the other parts. Here is what I did today!
I want to get rid of that weirdo fat in my armpits and read that increasing your muscle mass in your boob area is the best way to do that. We shall see. THIS & THIS is how I'm going to do it. I kind of combined the two and dropped some others. This was what I did:
10 girly push ups (2 sets)
10 of the Stability ball swim things (2 sets) (Can I just tell you? These hurt EVERYTHING)
10 of the Alternating Incline Dumbbell Chest Press (2 sets)
10 of the Close-grip Cable row (2 sets)
and
21s 2. These were a bitch towards the end.
I also did some lunges and some crunches from the abs routine. Let me say I was SO sweaty it was incredibly sexy.

Winter Minestrone
I've never watched Giada on the Food Network, but I found this recipe and got excited. I get a box of organic fruits and veggies weekly from It's Organic! Last week I got Red Chard, which I've never used before. I was trying to find recipes but everything was seared and fried and weird. So when I found the Winter Minestrone recipe, I got excited. The link for the original is up there. This post has my substitutions.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, peeled, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 ounces thinly sliced turkey bacon, coarsely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound Swiss chard, stems trimmed, leaves coarsely chopped
- 2 red potatoes, unpeeled, cubed
- 1 whole diced tomato
- a Sprinkle of Rosemary
- 1 (15-ounce) can cannellini beans, drained, rinsed
- 2 (14-ounce) cans low-sodium chicken broth
- Shredded Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
- Salt and pepper
Directions
Heat the oil in a heavy large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, carrots, celery, turkey bacon, and garlic. Saute until the onion is translucent, about 10 minutes. Add the Swiss chard and potatoes; saute for 2 minutes. Add the tomato and rosemary. Simmer until the chard is wilted and the tomatoes break down, about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, blend 3/4 cup of the beans with 1/4 cup of the broth in a processor until almost smooth. Add the pureed bean mixture and remaining broth to the vegetable mixture. Simmer until the potato pieces are tender, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Stir in the whole beans and parsley. Simmer until the beans are heated through and the soup is thick, about 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Ladle the soup into bowls and serve.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
